Limbus Company status effects damage guide
Rupture true damage, Sinking Deluge nukes, Burn turn-end bursts, Bleed coin triggers, Tremor stagger thresholds, and Poise crits.
Core Status Effects Damage & Trigger Matrix
In Limbus Company, combat archetypes revolve around Potency (magnitude of effect) and Count (duration / number of triggers). The table below outlines exact mathematical behaviors:
| Status Effect | Damage Type | Trigger Timing | Formula & Modifiers | Cap |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rupture (破裂) | True Damage (Fixed) | On every coin hit taken | Damage = Rupture Potency (Ignores all defenses, resistances, levels & stagger) | 99 / 99 |
| Sinking (沉沦) | SP Damage / Gloom | On every coin hit taken | Humans: SP damage = Potency Abnormalities: Potency × Gloom Resistance | 99 / 99 |
| Sinking Deluge (沉沦杀) | Gloom Damage (Nuke) | Upon skill activation (e.g. Spicebush S3) | floor(Potency × Count × Gloom Resistance) (Consumes all potency & count) | 19,602 |
| Burn (灼烧) | Wrath Damage | End of combat turn | Damage = Burn Potency (Boosted by Dark Flame multiplier if present) | 99 / 99 |
| Bleed (流血) | Lust Damage | Every coin flipped by target | Damage = Bleed Potency per coin tossed during clash or attack | 99 / 99 |
| Tremor (震颤) | Stagger Threshold | Upon Tremor Burst skill | Stagger Threshold advanced by Tremor Potency (Triggers immediate stagger if reached) | 99 / 99 |
| Poise (呼吸) | Critical Hit Chance | On coin hit roll | Crit Chance = Potency × 5% (Cap 100% at 20). Crit deals +20% base critical damage. | 99 / 99 |
Sinking Deluge: The 19,000+ Damage Nuke Formula
Sinking Deluge (introduced with Spicebush Yi Sang's Skill 3 "Floral Perfume") is the single highest burst-damage mechanic in Limbus Company. When Deluge triggers against a target without Sanity (such as Refraction Railway bosses):
Deluge Damage = floor( Sinking Potency × Sinking Count × Gloom Resistance )
Key Strategic Points:
- Full Multiplicative Stacking: Unlike normal hits which consume only 1 Count, Deluge multiplies Potency by Count in a single calculation.
- Max Theoretical Output: With 99 Potency and 99 Count against a boss with Fatal Gloom resistance (×2.0), Deluge deals
floor(99 × 99 × 2.0) = 19,602damage in one stroke. - Resource Consumption: Deluge completely consumes all Sinking stacks on the target. If the boss survives, Sinking must be rebuilt from zero.
Rupture vs. Normal Damage: Why True Damage Ignores Defenses
Rupture deals True Damage. This makes Rupture teams the most reliable choice against bosses with immense defense levels or universal damage resistances:
- Normal attack coins must overcome Defense Level scaling, Sin Resistances, and Physical Resistances (Slash/Pierce/Blunt).
- Rupture damage is added after the hit calculation and deals exactly 1 True Damage per Potency point, completely ignoring all damage reduction modifiers.
- A 4-coin skill landing on a target with 99 Rupture Potency will deal
99 × 4 = 396bonus True Damage, provided Rupture Count remains above zero throughout the attack.
Bleed & Coin Flip Punishment
Bleed is unique because it triggers on coin flips rather than on taking hits:
Bleed Trigger Damage = Bleed Potency (deals Lust damage per coin tossed)
When an enemy participates in a multi-round clash with a 3-coin or 4-coin skill, each round flips all active coins. An enemy with 50 Bleed Potency clashing over 3 rounds can easily suffer 400+ self-inflicted Lust damage purely from flipping their own coins.
Tremor Burst & Stagger Threshold Advancement
Unlike other status effects, standard Tremor does not directly reduce HP. Instead, it weaponizes the game's Stagger mechanic:
- When Tremor is burst, the target's nearest Stagger Threshold moves upward (closer to their current HP) by the Tremor Potency.
- If current HP is already below the newly advanced threshold, the target enters Stagger immediately, canceling all their remaining skill slots for the round.
- Advanced Tremor variants (such as Tremor - Reverb and Tremor - Decay) convert bursts into direct Sloth damage and defense level reductions.
